Stage 4 bowel cancer

mem

5 Years today!

Hi all,

Thought I would let you know, and to hopefully provide hope too, that today marks 5 years since I was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. And what a five years it has been…..

6 months chemo,
1 week radiotherapy,
1 bowel resection with an added stoma,
1 liver resection,
1 stoma reversal
2 lung ablations across both,
3 lung resections across both.
Road map body
Lots of tears
A few tantrums
Lots and lots of laughs and good times 😀!

I still have 5 little areas of concern on my right lung which are currently being closely monitored, which at this time I am more than happy with.

Importantly for me throughout all the past 5 years, and for future years, is to try live life in the best way I possibly can. I think cancer should fit into my life and certainly not the other way around.
I have been lucky that I have an amazing husband, daughter, grandsons, family, friends and an amazing team of specialists and nurses. And of course this amazing forum which has truly been a lifeline!

Happy Sunday all and heres to us all striving in spite of this damn disease!

Love to you all ❤️:x::x:

Thank you so much for taking the time to put this in writing. We are just approaching 6 months chemo and my husband has been feeling well. CEA was 580, it was 5 last week. I hope we can be like you with many years ahead. With a 4 and 5 year old in tow, we gotta make this happen.
Do u mind me asking how many liver mets u had?

Super,it is always pleasure to read a good news

I don’t mind at all @waiteh, ask anytime. I had one lump of a liver met, approx 10cm. I had 3mths of Capox which worked really well on my then liver met and subsequently enabled my liver resection.
That’s really positive news re your husbands CEA and I’ll be hoping for some really positive results for you both too. :x::x:
