Unsure about my condition

Hi, nearly 2 years ago I had nissin funduplication surgery performed on me and I also have Barrett's esophagus mataplasia. I developed a condition after surgery "dumping syndrome" only thing is... I'm suffering way too much wind but with mucous at the same time. I feel like I need the Toilet loads but don't always pass stools. I sometimes bleed heavily sometimes just a bit. My stools vary from mucous to thin and not a lot and rarely normal now at all. I can't eat when I'm out or st work as it makes it so much worse. Even just having a cup of tea causing the extreme wind and of course mucous so it's very embarrassing as I'm terrified of having a toilet accident mainly at work. Should I be worried . It does seem to be getting worse and it's really getting me down.

Good morning @stitch and a very warm welcome to the forum!

I have to admit that I have no knowledge or experience of the surgery you’ve had and would not feel comfortable offering advice regarding your symptoms. Have you discussed your concerns with your GP or surgeon? I’m tagging @Charlotte Nurse Advisor in the hope she can help in some way.

Sending you all my very best wishes,

They know about some of it from about 18 months ago but as it's become worse with the bleeding feeling of not emptying my bowels fully, pressure ,the extreme wind and mucous. I hoped it would stop and I'm also embarrassed tbh talking to anyone. It's work mainly that I find most difficult. I'm terrified I won't get to the toilet in time and embarrassed if anyone is in the toilets too. It's proper getting me down. I was just hoping there might have been some advice or help on here.
Thank you anyway

Hi @stitch,

I hope I’ve attached this properly but wondered if this would be of any use? I can understand your feelings of embarrassment and honestly, you’re in good company here as many of us have had to conquer that feeling!! Would another talk with your GP be helpful?

Ps. I haven’t attached it properly but you can download the booklets at topmright of this page! :x::x:

Hi @stitch

So sorry you are struggling, it sounds miserable.

Again I would advise talking things over with your GP or your specialist nurse.
Also, it sounds as if you should be entitled to use of disabled toilets. I was given an 'urgent' card and the option of a radar key.

Best wishes :x::x:

Thank you. Who gives the urgent card/radar key? I know I should go back to the doctors .....
Thank you :x:

Dear @stitich,

Whilst it is possible that some of your symptoms can be due to 'Dumping Syndrome' the symptoms you are experiencing of rectal bleeding and mucus are not typical of this condition.

I would definitely encourage you to talk to your GP about this and if necessary just get them checked out to be sure nothing is going on in the lower bowel.

With kind regards,

Charlotte

Thank you I will try and make myself go to my gp, I hate being examined and hate anything medical after everything I've had done

Dear @stitch,

I do understand how you feel about going to the doctor, but I think when something is worrying you it isn't going to go away and you're only going to continue to worry which can just make the symptoms worse.

Try to go a long to your GP if you can and get things checked out.

With kindest regards,

Charlotte

I will go. I just need to calm myself down a bit. It's not even that I'm scared of being told anything bad tbh. It's just having so much done to me over the last 2 years, I will go
Thank you for your advice 😊
