Worried & scared

I had a uncomfortable pain/feeling just under my right rib cage, I’ve been to the doctors & within the space of 2 wks I’ve been to see a specialist & I’m having to go for a colonoscopy I’ve never been of the toilet since with loose motions, I am so scared of the outcome. I lost my mum to bowel cancer within the space of 3 days & my brother to colon cancer within 4 months this April. I’m 50yrs of age & when I look back I’ve always struggled with the toilet ie constipated & loose motions

Thank you for your post and I'm sorry to hear about your anxiety. I'm going to split your post ie put it in another thread as there is a great support network on the forum to help you at this anxious time. You will get some great words of comfort from other users. The nurse is not available at the moment but will be able to reply on her return, however you are obviously being seen by the right people.
With best wishes

Hello @tinkerbell68

I can understand how worried you must be, but please reassure yourself that you are being well looked after already. It is great that you are being seen quickly and a colonoscopy is the best way to find out what is causing the problem. All sorts of things could be causing your bowel problems and pain, but if, worst case scenario, it is cancer, then at least it will have been caught as early as possible.

When are you having the colonoscopy? If you want any helpful advice about the proceedure then just ask.

Also have a look at the Publications and Factsheets just below. The 'Detect and Diagnose' download is the one you want at this stage (sorry can't do links on Mr tablet)

Any more queries just ask. And do keep us up to date.

Best wishes :x:
