Stage 4 bowel cancer

5 Years today!

Hi all,

Thought I would let you know, and to hopefully provide hope too, that today marks 5 years since I was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. And what a five years it has beenโ€ฆ..

6 months chemo,
1 week radiotherapy,
1 bowel resection with an added stoma,
1 liver resection,
1 stoma reversal
2 lung ablations across both,
3 lung resections across both.
Road map body
Lots of tears
A few tantrums
Lots and lots of laughs and good times ๐Ÿ˜€!

I still have 5 little areas of concern on my right lung which are currently being closely monitored, which at this time I am more than happy with.

Importantly for me throughout all the past 5 years, and for future years, is to try live life in the best way I possibly can. I think cancer should fit into my life and certainly not the other way around.
I have been lucky that I have an amazing husband, daughter, grandsons, family, friends and an amazing team of specialists and nurses. And of course this amazing forum which has truly been a lifeline!

Happy Sunday all and heres to us all striving in spite of this damn disease!

Love to you all โค๏ธ:x::x:

Hi @Sparrow, just re-read your profile, so lovely to see you are four years free. I'm going for my CEA in May. Fingers crossed for the same news as you. Nice to you too @tonym . How are you?

Thankyou so much guys- @Sparrow @michelle @Sparkles @bogonbelle @tonym โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ’• :x::x::x::x:

@Sparrow @Michele - it is SO lovely to hear from you both! I miss you on here but really glad the forum is not needed as much anymore โ˜บ๏ธ. Happy four years to you Sparrow ๐ŸŽ‰ and good luck with your CEA Michele ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ:x::x::x:

Im ok @Michele and thanks for asking, its a bit if a worry isnt it when someone doesnt post for a while, i think were all pretty much the same, we get on with life and try and tackle what comes our way but we all tend to come back to this Forum to see how our friends are, I know most of us have never met but we do seem to have a unique bond.

X Tony M

Glad to hear youโ€™re doing well @mem :x::x:

@tonym, you are so right... I too pop back on to see how our friends are ... so fab to see so many people who were there four years ago for me, are still here... yay! @Michele I just phoned for my CEA results today and it was good, I really hope that your CEA is low too, Good luck, @Michele! Thank you @mem! ( I still have a colonoscopy and CT scan in the Fall), but I'm much more optimistic than I was four years ago!
I miss my forum family, you guys are always in my prayers and thoughts... love and hugs

@mem ,Iโ€™m so so pleased for you, Iโ€™m 19 months down the line and after inoperable diagnosis Iโ€™ll be doing surgery in the next few weeks, Iโ€™m right behind you heading for those 5 years and more. I got this :x::x:

@mem ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’– :x::x::x::x:

@Sparrow, congratulations on your CEA results, lovely news to start the weekend. You are so right @tonym we do just get on with our life and deal with our diagnosis in our own way. It is addictive this forum though. Once you start popping in it starts to become a regular habit :). Have a lovely weekend all
