Scanxiety?

It’s scan o’clock again!

Some people get scanxiety but I try to manage it with positive thinking:
If the scan’s clear then happy days, if it shows something then I can get it treated - there’s no ‘bad news’!

It’s also helped by the lovely team at The Bridge Clinic, Lynn and Melanie, they make it a very relaxed visit.

Fingers crossed for the results in a couple of weeks.

Big hugs
Bear

@Bear G I look at it exactly the same way as you. If it's clear then banzai, if there is something there, well let's do something about it, although I've not yet had the situation of anything deteriorating yet, so maybe I'm full of it :D

Meantime, life as normal goes on between scans and I don't give it much space in my life and frequently forget I have cancer.

Keep on keeping on.. Do what you love and love what you do.

All the best
Lee

Should hear the outcome of mine on Friday @Bear G. And also find out why I've been sent a date for another one in April.......?!:-/ Hoping it's just a glitch in the system or something connected with the trial they've not told me about and nothing sinister.

Thanks @Bear G. I am liking @Lee1974 attitude as often I forget that I have cancer as well. Am kind of looking forward to my scan as at least I know where I am up to with the treatment! :x::x:

Hello @Bear G We have been told that Johns cancer is all gone ...into the bucket so to speak. !
So we have no scanxiety appointments till April
but....had a bit of a wobble on thursday when our Colorectal Sister rang us out of the blue and asked us to “pop” in for a CEA blood test the following day !
I felt quite sick and worried...she said it was just routine ....but Im not convinced
We have been having some talking therapy because we have both been feeling ‘ flat ‘ since we were given the all clear news
Not jumping for joy at all ......but now feeling guilty for not being thrilled at such good news that so many folk on here would be grateful for ...our Therapy lady thinks it’s because we know it could reappear but as you say John will get good screening tests for the rest of his life which I am very grateful for
I dont think life will ever be quite the same again

Hi @KatieR sorry to butt-in on your post to BearG but someone put the NICE guidelines for follow up on the forum last week and I think it said CEA tests are advised every 6 months for 3 years, so John’s may be routine (?) Very best wishes for a good result :x::x:

We had one in January 19 ? I’m not going to worry I’ve got a phone appointment on Wednesday so we should find out then ?

Fingers crossed for Friday Chris and that the extra appointment is just a glitch!

Hi @KatieR
Always great to hear phrases like "Johns cancer is all gone ...into the bucket", I love that expression!

Please try not to worry about them asking for a CEA test, I'm sure they're just being cautious but it's definitely worth asking in your telephone appointment tomorrow, please let us know what they say.

I do understand what you mean about not jumping for joy and then feeling bad for not feeling more jovial about the 'all clear'. Hopefully that excitement and joy will come when you can both start to relax knowing he's really OK. It's great that you're doing some therapy, is this with someone experienced with cancer situations? If not then I've heard that the Maggies Centres are really good and offer great support.

Big hugs
Bear
