Hello

Hello everybody.
I have had IBS for a number of years - controlled by diet. However, since last summer things have got worse - I had a gastroscopy in Feb - the only issue was a hiatus hernia.
However, things did'nt improve so I provided blood and stool samples about a month ago. Blood was fine but GP stated they had subjected my stool to a FIT test - they said it was 57 ( anything above 50 is flagged up but I have no idea what the numbers mean) other than there was blood in the stool.
So now I am waiting for a colonoscopy - what's the betting my appointment is when I am on holiday? Fingers crossed it is'nt.

Hi @Bren just wanted to say hi and hope all goes well but if not we are all here to help and hold your hand :x:

Thank you for your comments. To be honest I am not worried - what will be will be. My holiday? Camping in North Wales at the end of May, then two weeks in Devon from the end of july.

Hello Bren,

My referral was done by Gp on 29th Jan and had Colonscopy on 18th Feb. I understood Gp did an urgent referral as bloods and sample came back normal so my symtoms were unexplained as she put it.

It might also depend on health authority mine is Cardiff

@Bren
I think there is a 2week referral rule in place. So you need to be seen by a colonoscopy specialist nurse or direct to colonoscopy. So hopefully you will be ok for your planned holidays. And the results will also be good news so you can enjoy your holidays with peace of mind.

I have a telephone (!) consultation this Friday. I hope the procedure is not performed via the phone.....

If that was offered to me Id have definitely opted for a phone one. I did ask seconds before the colonoscopy if they could take my bowel into the treatment area whilst I waited outside.
I thought I was being hilarous but everyone was 😐... no. So embarrasing when people dont get me and my warped humour

jj

@Bren
If it is a telephone consultation then it’s usually not serious or bad news. So that sounds ok.
@sj72 sometimes these docs don’t get our humour. I told my anaesthetist on Thursday, i’d rather keep talking than count down from 10, and he just shook his head and looked completely blank! I guess folks don’t argue with him!

Hi @Bren = yea good luck for the tests. And your camping in North Wales = I have some good memories of doing just that = and we were lucky to have a clear sky when we went up Snowdon and we could see for miles.
