Pain after giving the 5 year all clear

I have posted on here in the past regarding pain I feel on the side I had my op.
After CT scans did not find anything to worry about my doctor has put the feeling of my ‘ Pulling pains ‘ i get down to scar tissue.
In March just gone I had my 5 year routine colonoscopy. During this they found my colon where it has been rejoined swollen. A biopsy was taken and 5 days later came back with a negative result. Which is good news.
I am wondering could this swelling be why I’m feeling these pulling pains and not scar tissue.
I wanted to ask the DR. that did my colonoscopy this question and why does he think the swelling occurred and is it reoccurring.I have spoken to his secretary who tells me she will get him to call me back ,but after 3 calls to her since March I’m still waiting for a call back . My own DR. Says he can’t help me I need to speak to the colonoscopy DR.
I can’t help thinking it feels the same as when my cancer was found.
The problem I now have as soon as I wake up each day I’m thinking’ is that pain there’ it’s so frustrating and worrying.I just need to talk to this DR. to put my mind at rest. Yesterday was the third time I called the DR’s secretary. I think if I don’t get a call back this week I will have to call my DR. again and see where we go from here.
Sorry for going on , hopefully will be able to give a positive update sooner than later.

Meg

I do hope they call you back, it is so frustrating trying to get in touch isn't it. Do you still have details for your colorectal nurse, they may be able to get some answers for you :x:

Hi, yes I do still have their phone number. I know though that the nurse I had has now moved on to other things within the NHS . I suppose I could still give them a call .

Molly2me

Hi @mike g I would definitely call even if it’s just to out your mind at ease. I too suffered tremendously with internal pain around my op site for a long long time, it occasionally tweaks and sets me wondering again! Do keep pressing for an answer but the colectoral nurse would be a good place to start. Thinking of you :x::x:

Meg , Molly2me Have taken your advice, had a long chat with the nurse and she called me back to advise me to call my doctors back and ask them for an appointment so they can arrange for another scan for me . Will keep you updated as an when I get anywhere

Molly2me

Sometimes it’s all it takes @mike g I’ve had that given to me and it’s been a nudge in the right direction so your not in your own lovely. Definitely keep us posted and wishing you the best :x::x:

Ps if you put @ in front of someone’s name they will see if much easier, I was just checking in on you this morning but was chuffed to see your post, hugs lovely :x::x::x:

@Molly2me @Meg Hi , here’s my latest update.
Finally got to see my doctor today, I had to take him a copy of my colonoscopy report that i had last March as hospital did not send one to him .
After checking me over I had to go for a blood test and give a stool sample. I have to now wait to see if those tests show up anything. He said he will contact me when he gets the results back . The swelling on my colon they found I’m told is nothing to worry about. Sounds like the pains I get are what I have to live with now .

Molly2me

Hello lovely @mike g do you feel reassured that the pains are nothing to worry about? When will your results come back? That was one hell of a long time to wait since March! Did they explain why? Take care :x::x:

@Molly2me Hi , I do feel a little better after seeing the doctor today , I’m hoping the results of the tests I’ve had today come back by end of the week. He reassured me the swelling they found on my colon is nothing to worry about.
No explanation given to me as why colonoscopy department didn’t get back to me and he was annoyed with them for not even sending them the report of my colonoscopy. Still they have it now as I had to give them my copy of it. Just waiting now for tests to come back.

Molly2me

It’s frustrating when it’s not a smooth ride @mike g but your getting there. I’m not surprised he was annoyed, I think a copy of the report is standard practice! You could certainly ask, I was encouraged to do that about my scan results, but when it did arrive, it caused some confusion for about 4 weeks as it was finally determined as incorrect! We can’t win sometimes! I’m hoping to receive a copy letter, a scan date and colonoscopy date soon 🤞 :x::x: take care and hope good results are wi5h you soon :x::x:

Hi @mike g,

Just catching up on posts a little after a wee holiday last week down in Brighton! 😁. I'm glad you've made contact with your specialist nurse and also GP. Great that the stool sample and bloods have been done too and will hopefully reassure you. As always, if you still feel that something isn't right, I'd definitely advise you to approach your GP again for help and possible re referral for further investigations. We do know for sure that post op adhesions are definitely a thing for many but I personally haven't experienced them so wouldn't know. What I do know is that if after a long time, I started getting abdominal pains, I'd be highlighting this to my team. Fingers crossed all will be well!

Sending lots of love and all my very best wishes,

Karen 💙💚💛❤️💜
