A thank you I guess.

I have been on this website constantly now for about 2 weeks. And all the stories and posts have really helped.

About 2 years ago I had a pain in my left side, some days it was unbearable but a scan didn't show any stones.

Fast forward to current date, I have had pains on and off, my bowel movements are 8 or so times a day, sometimes only just making it. Other times feeling like it's coming out only for nothing to happen. Pain is now abdominal and lower back. Constantly gassy and painful.

Dr sent off stool sample and come back with blood in so now im waiting to see a bowel specialist. Approx 6 weeks. Its a strange feeling, I'm normally very laid back and if the worst happens then so be it kind of attitude. But the waiting has left me feeling anxious which isn't a feeling ive ever had. But reading posts is certainly helping. So thank you.

Hi @Bluebird87, a very warm welcome to the forum although I am sorry to hear of your horrible symptoms.

I have to say that I am surprised that you have been told that you have a wait of eight weeks as I would expect you to be referred and seen under the two week rule. I don’t say this to alarm you but think you might consider contacting your GP and asking for the referral to be ‘urgent’.

The link below explains this, but please note that an urgent referral does not mean that someone has cancer. It is true that covid has slowed down some processes but it good to be your own advocate and think about challenging the eight weeks interval. I hope this makes sense, if not please come back with questions and definitely keep us informed of how you get on.

Take care, Kim :x::x:

Thank you for that. I live in Wales so seems they aren't part of the 2 week refferal. The Dr did say if I've not heard back by late December to let him know.

Lirio345

Ahh right I did wonder which part of the UK you live in @Bluebird87. My point about being your own advocate does still apply though, so definitely be politely persistent.

I am glad the forum is helping you but of course you mustn’t assume that you have BC, as these symptoms can be caused by many Bowel conditions. Please take care, Kim :x::x:

Hi @Bluebird87, I also live in Wales and I was told I was being “urgently referred” for further investigations by my GP and I had a CT scan done within 2 weeks so even though the 2 week wait isn’t technically in place in Wales I think something similar does still take place in reality so it might be worth a gentle nudge to the GP. Good luck and take care :x: :x:

Bluebird87

That's good to know. Thank you 🙂

Hello @Bluebird87 and welcome to the forum! I'm sure you'll find this a safe, supportive and friendly community.

I'm sorry to learn of your concerns and would also encourage you to be 'politely persistent' with your GP especially with @liz82's experience. Hopefully you'll have some investigations very soon and be reassured that all is well (or that there's are other reasons for your symptoms) I guess until that happens, you won't really know.

Please keep us posted if you can?

Lots of love,

Karen 💛💜💙❤️💚

Strangely, your symptoms and situation are v close to own@Bluebird87. But I have anemia and constant fatigue which is not fun. The blood in stool was spotted some time (years) ago. However my GP suspected piles rather than anything else.

So, when the test / check process for BC begins for us, you think the very worst. Well I do!! It's hard not to? So don't feel bad about that if you do. I think we all have a degree of shock to handle going through this. I fell to pieces after being told myself.

As many of the lovely folk in here have highlighted that ( 9 out of 10 times) there is no BC. 🤞🤞. In addition treatments can be highly effective in many cases it seems. I have trawled the site like you no doubt have, so we know more about the disease and these treatments. I feel much better knowing more and also knowing this brill forum and it's people are here to help. I believe you feel the same?

So, I guess for the ones like us who have just started their BC rollercoaster ride, it's all about sitting tight, living in the moment, and avoiding thinking too much about the worst, then hoping for the best.

So, let hang on in there? 👍❤️

Thank you all for your messages. Its so helpful, and you really are the best.

I had a phone call just now, they are doing the colonoscopy on Saturday at 15.30. So I have to go now to pick up my pack as there's not enough time to send it.
There goes my plan of a takeaway tomorrow 😂

Thanks again all :x:

Lirio345

That is good to hear - things are going forward @Bluebird87. Have take away Saturday evening instead 😀, Kim :x::x:

Brilliant news @Bluebird87! Gives you much less time to worry about things!

I hope it all goes well and please keep us posted if you can? Hopefully it'll be good news and you can celebrate in style with your takeaway afterwards! Fingers and toes tightly crossed for you!

Colonoscopy all done. Wasn't as bad as I thought, however the moviprep was interesting....
I had 1 sessile polyp removed. And there were others but of a small nature for now.
There were 14 biopsies taken. But no idea what they all were. Lots of medical words lol. So now I just need to wait to see if the polyp result is when it comes back.

Baxter2

I'm so glad it's all done and dusted @Bluebird87! Thanks for letting us know how things have gone today. It's now time to kick back, relax and tuck into that take away (unless you've already done so!) The biopsies are taken and there's little for you to do now but try to keep your mind busy with other things until the results are known. It's all out with your control so there's little point in worrying..........much easier said than done I know!

Keep us posted if you can on how you're doing?

Lots of love,

Karen 💛❤️💜💙💚

Bluebird87

@Baxter2 yep Chinese is on order lol. Unfortunately Wales got battered by New Zealand so that put a downer on the day lol. But I will let you know once it all comes back. 🙂🙂

We're just watching the highlights of the game now @Bluebird87. I've no idea how Scotland got on against Tonga...........?! Hope you enjoyed your take away dinner!

Lots of love,
