Research Opportunities (Bowel Cancer UK)

Researcher looking for young people aged 16-30 living with an ileostomy or colostomy to take part in an interview and/or diary

A researcher at The University of Manchester is looking for participants aged 16-25 to take part in interview and/or create a diary to share their experiences of life with an ostomy.

The interviews and diaries are flexible and will be designed to suit your lifestyle, availability, needs and preferences. For example, formats for interviews include (but are not limited to) Zoom or the phone, via instant or text message, or you can ‘self-interview’ where you are sent questions and you record yourself – in the style of a 'vlog'?

For the diary, it can be handwritten (you would be sent a package with a notebook and a pen), typed on a computer or your phone notes, text-messaged (with text and images if you wanted) or video/voice recorded.

The tasks will be a length of your choice and at a time that works with you. You can take part in an interview or create a diary, or both!

This research works with young people who are:
a) aged 16-25 and currently live with an ileostomy/colostomy
b) aged 16-25 and are considering ostomy surgery in the future
or
c) aged 16-30 and previously lived with an ileostomy/colostomy in the last 5 years.
