Colonoscopy today.

I suspect many know me especially those who have been on here a while, I was dx age 39 in Dec 2017 and my whole world crashed. I struggled massively but once a plan was in place things were easier, i went on to have chemo radio, a TME LAR surgery and more chemo. I gained a temp loop ileostomy and a paralysed bladder from surgery, I now have to catheterise for life, but neither were a huge issue and I got on with things. In Aug last year my ileostomy was reversed but since I've struggled with LARS syndrome and anaemia so a colonoscopy was booked. I had it today and its clear!! Im always cautious about posting good results as I know that others may not be as lucky, but I'm also aware in my early days how much a positive post helped me. I also know I'm not out of the woods yet, but feel lucky to of had a positive outcome today. :x::x:

Good morning @kitti, that is terrific news about the colonoscopy - I can feel your utter relief!
I would totally agree with @Liz Blakelands video recommendation above. Here is the link:

I have also read good feedback about the site (ignore if you are familiar with!) and the LARS FB group.

Take very good care and I really hope you are able to get the LARS under control, Kim :x::x::x:

Hi,

Thank you so much, between myself and my colorectal nurses we have tried everything but 7 months later In still in depends. Im still however open to ideas, info as I desperately want to be able to plan things. I have been offered irrigation however its not been tried yet as the nurse feels my anxiety is too high atm. It was very obvious early on I was struggling and although it initially improved slightly there have been no recent improvement. My life is very outdoors and I can be a hour from a toilet, this obviously doesn't work with LARS, infact there's days I cannot get round a supermarket, the unpredictability is just awful. Its meant I haven't returned to work and my life have become very small, I use lopirimide and movicol and to date nothing has found a balance 😒. :x::x:

Hi, Thank you, yes I felt its really important as often once through treatment people go off and get on with their lives leaving others to wonder where they've gone. I know positive stories still give me hope :x::x:

Hi again @kitti, my heart goes out to you, you are really struggling with LARS - so miserable. Do have a look at the video and see whether any of the recommendations are ones you have not yet tried. I wonder if you should consider asking to be referred to a GI specialist now. Anyway, sending lots of love and everything crossed for you, Kim :x::x:

Thankyou, I am struggling with LARS but I know if things don't improve a colostomy is always a option. I just need to give myself more time first :x::x:
