Itโ€™s back ๐Ÿ˜ž

Itโ€™s been 4 years since my op to take away the monster in my rectal sigmoid area. I was stage 3 with perforation, have a permanent colostomy. I underwent 5 weeks chemo/radiation pre op then 6 months Folfox post op. I am currently 5 weeks post op open surgery, for what they suspected was reocurrance. I had my appendix and right ovary and fallopean tube removed, a uretha stent put in place and several other biopsies were taken. Cancer was found in Overy and tube and something called a sheath ? No idea what that is, have been told more chemo as they do not know if they got it all out. Has anyone here had experience of spread to ovary ? and what chemo you were put on. Any ideas what a sheath is ? Awaiting oncology appointment, mind is in overdrive ๐Ÿ˜ณ :x::x:

Hi @Salgal, I am so sorry to hear about what you have been going through, and can totally understand your mind being in overdrive. Do you have a Nurse specialist you could contact and ask for answers to some of your questions while you are waiting to speak with the Oncologist?

I have certainly read of people on here having mets to ovary, so hopefully they will be along soon. The only sheath I am aware of in the abdomen encloses some of the muscles at the front, but I am not medically trained.

I hope you get some answers soon. Take very good care, Kim :x::x:

Hi @Salgal
I am sorry to read that you have a recurrence and have more surgery.
I am not surprised that you are feeling this way.
What a lot you are going through.
I can't help with your specific questions but echo Kim's advice.

You could also send an e mail to the charities 'Ask the Nurse' for some medical advice.

Take care and hope your appointment is soon,
Jane :x::x:

Hi @Salgal I'm so sorry to hear about your recurrence. I've got ovarian mets which were picked up on my follow-up scan in April this year. Initially it was just the left, but now both are involved (I also have peritoneal and liver mets). I'm hoping to have surgery eventually but need to get things under control first. I was put on FOLFIRI. Don't know if that's an option for you or if it would need to be FOLFOX as it's mop up? But hopefully they'll have got it all and chemo will just be a precaution. I'm afraid I don't know about the sheath question.... Hope you get a clearer plan soon take care :x::x:

@Salgal

Just wanted to say how very sorry I am about the recurrence and how horrid it must be waiting for a treatment plan. Hope that things soon become a lot clearer.

Hi @Salgal, I'm sorry to hear of your recurrence. It's hard going isn't it.
I had metastasis to both ovaries which were removed with surgery. I had folfox chemotherapy afterwards. I'm afraid I don't know what the sheath is.
Take care :x:

Good morning @Salgal,

Like the others, I'm so sorry to read of your recurrence. I can imagine how you're feeling and have had this happen too. I had four tiny new liver mets appear only five months after my liver resection and 3 months after CRS/HIPEC. It felt devastating at the time. They responded to chemo and are no longer visible on CT scan for last 3 years. ๐Ÿคž. I hope there is a good plan for you going forward to zap anything left behind with chemo! Please keep us posted if you can?

Lots of love,

Thank you all for your lovely, encouraging messages. I have an appointment with my colorectal consultant 22.8 I cannot wait to see her, we have a really good relationship and know I can ask her anything so have made lots of notes. I do not think my appointment will be much longer to come through to see oncologist, this is my main worry at the moment as was on Folfox before but the oxiplatine was stopped half way through as I couldnโ€™t tolerate it, my toes still do not feel totally recovered still a little numbness and tingling so Iโ€™m just hopeful that they will put me on another regime . My stent will be in for a while yet so I donโ€™t have to worry about that for now, phew ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Take care all ๐Ÿ’ thankyou again for your messages
