Male 41 y.o.

Generally fit & well. Never smoked, rarely drink. No family history of bowel cancer. Diagnosed with stage 3 sigmoid cancer in November 2020. It was a big shock and I am still trying to come to terms with it, but currently taking it one day at a time.

19/11/2020 - presented to A&E with severe abdominal pain. Admitted. CT showed thickening of sigmoid colon.
23/11/2020 - colonoscopy and biopsy confirming poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma with micropapillary features.
09/12/2020 - high anterior resection (keyhole). Staging: T3N2b M0 (stage 3C). 7 affected lymph nodes out of 24. Widespread extramural lymphatic involvement but no EMVI. R0 resection (tumour removed with clear margins). MMR proficient (unlikely to be Lynch snydrome). KRAS and BRAF both wild type (no mutation).
31/12/2021 pre-chemotherapy CEA: 1.5
17/1/2021 CEA: 1.8. No DPD mutation.
19/01/2021 - started CAPOX adjuvant chemotherapy (4 cycles). Main side effect so far is nausea which can be quite severe.
09/02/2021 - CEA: 3.00 Start of CAPOX cycle 2. Harder than cycle 1 with more peripheral neuropathy and fatigue.
02/03/2021 - CEA: 2.5. Start of CAPOX cycle 3. Definitely the hardest so far in terms of oxaliplatin side effects (peripheral neuropathy, nausea etc.) but managed to complete it and now looking forward to my last cycle.
23/03/2021 - CEA: 3.1 Start of CAPOX cycle 4. As hard as cycle 3 but managed to complete.
06/04/2021 - end of CAPOX chemotherapy. Now on surveillance programme (3-monthly CEA; 12-monthly colonoscopies & CTs).

02/06/2021 - first CEA on surveillance: 2.1

19/06/2021 - first surveillance CT results: no evidence of disease.

15/09/2021 - CEA: 2.4

01/12/2021 - CEA: 2.3
